Tool and Jig for cutting and joining

Use tool and jig in the right when cutting and joining Roller chains.
Careful hammering is required as punches may break due to smaller P.C.D. at the bottom.

Caution

Always wear appropriate clothes and protective equipment.
(safety goggles, safety boots etc)

(1) For rivet type, grind off end of pins.

(2) For cotter pin type, remove cotter (S pin).

(3) Hit end of pins in a link plate alternately with a hammer and punch.

How to Join Roller Chains

(1)When connecting link is clip type, cotter type, or offset link
Place connecting portion on the top of sprocket, and insert connecting link or offset link.
Insert connecting plates and fix with clip or cotter pin.

Caution
  • Be careful not to hurt sprocket teeth when insert connecting plate.
  • Position open end of clip on reverse direction of chain movement to avoid fall off of clip.
  • Cotter pins opening should be about 60 degrees angle.

(2) When using Super Connector Place Chain in the plate jig and insert "Reaction force" with hammer and specially made punch. Then fix with spring pin.

Caution
  • Never enlarge link plate holes by drilling etc, fine or grind pins, even if inserting is difficult as it may cause chain breakage.
  • Spring pins should equally come out at top and bottom.
Caution
  • Never reuse clips and cotter pins and never use not genuine clips and cotter pins, as it may cause deterioration of chain strength and life.
  • Never reuse or reassemble connecting links and any other parts of roller chain for the same reason above.
  • After setting connected roller chains into machines, please check the following points before turn power switch on to avoid accidents.
    a) Whether connection is made firmly and accurately?
    b) Whether roller chains are well fit on sprocket teeth?
    c) Whether any bothering goods or material to interfere chain movement?
