Seismic isolation Floor System "SKID"

Major earthquakes could inflict huge damage on office buildings or commercial establishments.

Previously, base-isolation measures were installed into special rooms, e.g. computer rooms, and the base-isolators devices were large scale and expensive. Moreover, it was said to be difficult to install base-isolation foundations into existing office buildings.

The SKID by Hitachi Metals Techno, Ltd. is a high performance two dimensional base-isolation foundation, which is applicable to the floors of existing buildings, thus resolving those problems. The SKID will realize the introduction of a "base-isolation office".
